The secret to change isn’t more time—it’s more courage.

A few years ago, I had to ask myself a hard question:

“Am I really moving forward… or just staying busy to avoid the real work?”

It happened during one of the hardest seasons of my life.

After walking through back-to-back adversity—loss, illness, and unexpected change—I buried myself in daily tasks. My days were packed. My to-do lists were full. But if I’m honest? I wasn’t getting the results I needed to move forward.

I was camped out in my comfort zone. And nothing actually changes there.

 

Results vs. Routine: What’s the Difference?

Your comfort zone can feel safe—but it can also keep you stuck. It’s where we:

  • Repeat the same habits that no longer serve us.

  • Stay in pain we’ve gotten used to.

  • Avoid risks because they feel too big or too scary.

Results don’t live there. Growth happens when you do something uncomfortable—on purpose.

Here’s what getting real results might look like:

  • Saying no to what drains your energy (even if you’ve done it for years).

  • Asking for support so you’ll follow through.

  • Starting before you feel completely ready.

If you’ve been “busy” but don’t feel any closer to the life you want… you’re not alone.

 

Why We Stay Stuck (Without Realizing It)

Most people don’t stay stuck because they’re lazy. They stay stuck because they’re waiting for life to change for them—so they don’t have to be the one to change.

But that mindset? It steals time.

  • Weeks pass. Then months. Then years.

  • You wake up one day wondering why everything still feels the same.

If that sounds familiar, here’s one small shift that can create big momentum:

Instead of asking, “What if I fail?” try asking, “What if I succeed?”

  • What would success look like?

  • What would your day feel like if you finally got results that mattered to you?

Do one thing this week that makes you nervous.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Say yes to a workshop, class, or coaching session you've been putting off.

  • Decline an obligation that no longer fits your life.

  • Have the hard conversation. Ask for what you need.

The goal isn’t to be fearless. The goal is to move forward, even with shaky hands.

Start with one action. Then take another. That’s how real progress is made.

You don’t need a dramatic life overhaul to change your life.

You just need to:

  • Make real choices (not just keep busy).

  • Take courageous steps (even if they’re small).

  • Get honest about what’s working—and what isn’t.

Your comfort zone might feel familiar, but it can also lead to regret if you stay there too long.

If nothing changes… nothing changes.

It’s okay to start small.

In fact, small steps are how lasting change is built. You don’t need more time, more information, or even more motivation. You need a little courage. That’s all.
